The Academy

The JR Yeti Academy is designed for driven, aspiring student-athletes who are committed to putting in the time and effort required for personal growth. At JR Yeti Academy, we understand that individual skill development is often overlooked due to demanding competition schedules, limited access to facilities outside of school hours, and a primary focus on team-based coaching.

Our program emphasizes long-term athlete development, providing opportunities for each individual to build confidence, refine their skills, and reach new levels of performance.

2026-2027 OVERVIEW

Players participate (per week) in:

• two (2) on-ice sessions
• two (2) off-ice sessions (classroom, stretching, yoga, etc.)
• two (2) weight room sessions

On/Off-ice sessions take place at Dobson Ice Arena twice per week. After skating, Players will do 60 minuets blended of Yoga, Sports journaling and Video. After the on/off-ice sessions, players will be transported by school-operated bus back to VSSA campus for lunch.

Weight room sessions take place at the G.O.A.T training facility located in Edwards twice per week. Following weight room sessions, players will be transported by school-operated bus back to VSSA campus and will attend an additional hockey specific off ice training session or have ice time on our outdoor ice rink.

Training sessions begin the week of November 10th and go through April 30th.

WEIGHT ROOM SCHEDULE

Days: Tuesday & Thursday (or) Wednesday & Friday

Location: G.O.A.T in Edwards

Drop Off: 9:00 a.m.

Weight Room: 9:15-10:15 a.m.

Bus Pick Up: 10:30 a.m.

Hockey Specific Training or Outdoor Ice : 11:00 a.m.

Lunch: 12:30 p.m.

PROGRAM AND SCHOOL COST

VSSA Hockey Development Program: $4,500

Academic Fee: $575

Academic Tutor Program: $1,000 (Middle School) / $1,200 (High School)

PROCESS TO APPLY

Every player must complete an online application to be considered for acceptance in the Junior Yeti Hockey Academy. This hockey application is the first step to being admitted the program and school.

Upon submission of the application, please follow the link in the email you will receive to begin the school application process as well as schedule your shadow day both with the hockey program as well as the school. You must be accepted into both the hockey program and the school to be fully admitted to Junior Yeti Academy.

Student athletes from other schools may apply to the VSSA Hockey Development Program. Keep in mind, on/off-ice sessions and weight training sessions takes place in the mornings prior to academics. Consult with your school principal about the schedule. You do not have to attend VSSA to be a part of the Yeti Hockey Academy.
